The 5th Generation Chevrolet Corvette was introduced in 1997 thus the C5 name. The C5 was a complete redesign of the previous C4 Corvette which was built from 1984-1996. The C5 is a lot different than the previous generation Corvettes including; A Longer Wheelbase, Aluminum Block for the engine, Structural Rigidity, Wider Track, and an overall improvement in quality. Unlike most Convertibles the Corvette Convertible weighs the same as the coupe. Corvette's chief engineer said the structural design for the new Vette began with the convertible, and as a result no shoring-up measures were required for the soft-top chassis. The C5 is equipped with the LS1 V8 Engine which produces 345 Horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. The C5 Convertible and Coupe both go from 0-60 in less than 5 Seconds with the 6-Speed Manual.
